Ways to overcome depression
Get support: Turn to your friends and family members, tell them what
you’re going through and ask them for their love and support. Continue to go to
social activities and join a support group.
Challenge Negative thinking: Think about
whether you would say what you’re saying to yourself to someone else, remember
that nobody’s perfect and don’t expect yourself to be, talk to positive people
and write down all negative thoughts you have.
Take care of yourself: Get at least 8 hours of sleep, get some
sunlight, try to manage stress, practice relaxation techniques and get a
pet.
Get regular exercise: take the stairs instead of the elevator, park
your car in a further spot, walk your dog, pair up with and exercise partner and
walk while you talk on the phone.
Eat healthy: don’t skip meals, minimise sugar, get lots of complex
carbs and boost your vitamin B.
Say nice things to yourself: Don’t think negatively about things, and
notice the little things that you like about yourself.
